What Does a Word Counter Measure?

A word counter is more than just a word tally — it gives you a complete snapshot of your text. Mizakii's word counter tracks six metrics simultaneously: total words, total characters (including spaces), characters without spaces, sentence count, paragraph count, and estimated reading time. Every metric updates live as you type, so you never need to click a button.

Reading time is estimated at 200 words per minute, the widely-cited average for adult silent reading. A 1,000-word blog post takes about 5 minutes; a 2,500-word long-form article takes roughly 12–13 minutes. This metric is particularly useful for content creators who want to match their article length to a target reading time before publishing.

Word Count in SEO and Content Marketing

Word count is one of the most debated metrics in SEO. While Google has repeatedly stated that word count alone is not a ranking factor, studies consistently show that top-ranking pages tend to be longer — not because of length itself, but because comprehensive content naturally covers more related topics, earns more backlinks, and satisfies searcher intent more fully.

Blog posts
1,500–2,500 words
Covers the topic fully without padding; earns featured snippets
Long-form guides
3,000–6,000 words
Establishes topical authority; pillar content for link building
Product descriptions
